The dRPC is a non-profit Social Enterprise, located in Kano State in the North of Nigeria. The dRPC was formed in May 1994 and  registered with the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission in January 1995. The dRPC’s mission is to build capacity and social capital for participatory development especially within civil society. Its vision is for a vibrant and empowered civil society, communities and social institutions that will put and keep Nigeria on the path of sustainable development. A civil society in which the poorest and most vulnerable are full members and their voices are heard. The dRPC  carries out development projects using participatory approaches which seek to incorporate the views of the poor and the vulnerable in development. While the dRPC works throughout Nigeria in strategic partnerships with civil society organizations most of its activities have been concentrated in the Northern states. In facilitating development projects, the dRPC performs the unique role of an intermediary organization, building capacity through research and training for implementing partners such as civil society organizations (FBOs, CBOs, NGOs and Networks).  The dRPC emerged in response to challenges faced in implementing bottom up development efforts. Nowhere was this challenge more greatly felt than in large states such as Kano and Lagos state.  There are several non-profit groups directly implementing development projects in Nigeria; few groups set out to facilitate others to carry out interventions. This is the gap that the dRPC seeks to fill. The dRPC set out to address the challenge of how to build capacity within civil society organizations and government to design and implement evidence based development interventions.
